Bob Hansan, Founder and President, Capitol Advantage

Bob HansanBob Hansan founded Capitol Advantage in 1986. He has grown a small publishing company into the nation's largest publisher of congressional directories, and the leading provider of Internet tools for congressional communication and civic participation. He is nationally recognized for his pioneering work to help individuals and organizations develop an effective and powerful voice on Capitol Hill and with the nation's state legislatures. He was named to Harvard University's distinguished list of "25 People Who Are Changing the World of Internet and Politics," and is a two-time Pollie Award winner.

Mr. Hansan is a partner of the Internet advocacy-consulting group 720 strategies and of Knowlegis, a knowledge management company for lobbyists and government relations professionals. He is the creator of the public service Web site Congress.org, and the founder of National Civic Participation Week, designated by the U.S. Senate to take place September 11-17th.

Bob received his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Virginia Commonwealth University. He resides in Reston, VA with his wife.


Sherry Stanley, Chief Executive Officer

Sherry StanleySherry joined Capitol Advantage in 1988 as an account executive, charged with growing the company's Congressional Directory publishing business. Since then, she has been instrumental in building the company into a nationally recognized powerhouse in the areas of grassroots organization and political advocacy. Concentrating on products and services specifically designed to increase the effectiveness of advocacy at state and national levels, Sherry has helped thousands of clients successfully influence the outcome of their government affairs campaigns.

A graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University's School of Mass Communications, Sherry currently resides in the Washington, DC area with her husband and young son.

Mark West, Chief Information Officer

Mark WestMark West has worked for Capitol Advantage for over 10 years. He came to the company after 13 years at C-SPAN, where he worked as publications manager, editor of the C-SPAN Update, and helped launch the cable network's first online media services. Mark studied mass communications at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond.

Kathy Larash Black, Vice President, Product Development and Operations

Kathy BlackKathy currently serves as the liaison between the technical team, which includes the company's software developers and systems engineers, and revenue team. Kathy has spent over seven years with the company and continues to provide vast knowledge of the Capwiz·XC tool by serving as a government relations expert. Previously, Kathy worked in the health and human services field. Kathy is a graduate of The Pennsylvania State University.
